Yes, a new one, as this is the second generation of the Russian-made YotaPhone. Last year, we were totally impressed about the idea of a smartphone sporting two displays: a regular LCD one and an e-ink, secondary display, just perfect for those moments when your battery is getting closer to 0% and you desperately need your phone. More like a Power Saving Mode, taken to a whole new level.
Low batter? Here comes e-ink!
The YotaPhone 2 was announced at MWC 2014 and it seems ready to hit the markets. According to GSMArena, Yota Devices announced an event for December 3, which will take place in London.
Ok, so except the two 5″ displays, what else could we get? YotaPhone 2 will be powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 800, clocked at 2.3 GHz and 2 GB of RAM, while the internal storage capacity counts 32 GB. Of course, the operating system of choice is Android 4.4 KitKat. ]
In terms of camera, the phone is loaded with an 8 MP main sensor, alongside a 2 MP front snapper, the ‘standard’ if you ask us, for mid-range devices. Last but not least, the battery has a capacity of 2,550 mAh.
A fair-price for a mid-ranger?
The first generation of the YotaPhone was available for just $295, so we expect the new model to sport a price tag of around $350-400.
