Xiaomi, now the world’s third smartphone manufacturer!

Last updated on January 7, 2017 By Andrei Klein Leave a Comment

After a relatively short time of being present on the market, Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi keeps surprising us. Over the last few months, their devices sold incredibly well and the results were immediate. According to Strategy Analytics, cited by Engadget, Xiaomi is now the third biggest smartphone manufacturer in the world, being surpassed only by Samsung and Apple.

In your face, LG and Lenovo!

In just one year, their shipments basically triples, reaching 18 million devices in the third quarter of 2014, surpassing brands like Lenovo or LG. Of course, a very important role in Xiaomi success was played by their flagship device, MI4, which was extremely well received in India and China.

For $326, you receive a smartphone with a full HD 5.0 display, powered by a Snapdragon 801 chipset, with a quad-core Krait 400 CPU, clocked at 2.5 GHz, 3 GB of RAM and an Adreno 330 GPU. The internal storage can reach 64 gigs, while the operating system is Android 4.4.3 KitKat, customized with the MIUI 5.0 user interface.

The back of the Xiaomi MI4 houses a 13 MP camera, with a dual LED flash, able to shoot 2160p videos at 30 fps or even 720p videos, at 120 fps. The front snapper is also impressive, as it has an 8 MP sensor, resulting some great quality video calls or selfies.

Last but not least, it also comes with a big battery, with a capacity of 3080 mAh, which will definitely make it through a full day of intense activity with ease!

Ok, but how about other markets?

It would be very interesting to see how Xiaomi’s phones would be received in other territories too, like Europe or the United States. Considering the fact that they’re offering top specs at very low prices, they should sell very good, if it weren’t for the reticence of buying a Chinese phone.

What do you think about Xiaomi? Would you buy one of their phones?
