Will Apple Watch be the best smartwatch for fitness?

Last updated on January 7, 2017 By Andrei Klein Leave a Comment

Even though we still have to wait for a few months to pass in order to get our hands on the Apple Watch, there have been a lot of sources pointing to the fact that this will be the best smartwatch for fitness and it will bring the end to all fitness bands. We totally disagree with this, as for us, this title could easily go to the Samsung Gear S. And, because that’s the way things should be done, we have some arguments too!

Cheaper alternatives? You bet!

First of all, it will be expensive. You can get fitness bands for less than $349, Apple’s Watch starting price. Heck, even $100. Also, be aware that when it’s finally going to be available on the market, its main competitors will definitely lower the prices for their devices.

Secondly, it’s not that practical. On Android Wear devices, everything can be easily controlled through the touchscreen, while the Apple Watch makes use of the side wheel in order to access some functions. When it comes to fitness bands…well, you don’t need to control that much, as most of them don’t have buttons.

Also, let’s not forget about its metallic body. Metal doesn’t go that good with sweat or with a run through rainy weather, as a rubber band and a plastic body would be way better. Still the best smartwatch for fitness? Think again.

We still want to test it, though…

For us, these are the two main reasons why Apple Watch doesn’t stand a chance in the race for the best smartwatch for fitness title, but we can’t deny that overall, it’s a really interesting device. We’re very curious how it will be received by the market and of course, about the apps developed for this little guy.

What do you think? If you were a fitness addict, would you buy Apple’s smartwatch?
