After a pretty interesting teasing campaign and a leaked image, it finally happened. Pebble introduced their latest smartwatch, Pebble Time, which is now available for buying on the Kickstarter platform. Oh, and people are already getting one, so hurry up if you want one too.
It’s here and it’s cooler than ever
At a first look, there’s quite a resemblance to yesterday’s leaked image, but overall, it looks way better that we were expecting.
It’s true, the always-on e-paper display is not as wide as we thought, but however, it’s colorful and helps the Pebble Time deliver up to 7 days of battery life. It also comes with a new software version, featuring a timeline interface, which will deliver the most important information chronologically, according to GSM Arena.
Besides this, the wearable will be able to show notifications, messages or even previous workout data, if paired with a fitness app, for example. Go down through the timeline and you will see your reminders or weather forecast. How cool is this?
Expect a whole new category of apps
A very interesting addition is the built-in microphone, meaning that you can use it for replying to notifications or take voice notes. Not to mention that you can use it with messaging apps, like Hangouts, Facebook Messenger or Whatsapp.
The new OS is compatible with all the available apps – over 6500 – so we’re very curious to see how they will look on Pebble Time’s new color display. Also, in terms of customization, it comes with a 22mm replaceable silicone band and it’s available in black, white and red.
The new Pebble Time is available for $179 right now, being compatible with every smartphone running Android 4.0/iOS 8 and up.
Any first thoughts about this new smartwatch? Is it what you were expecting?
