Lately, there have been rumors about Microsoft planning an update for the Lumia 1020, one of their best devices, apparently called Lumia 1030 (d’ooh) but it seems that their current flagship, Lumia 1520, will also get a successor.
Windows Phone 10? Ok, go on…
According to Nokia Power User, the Lumia 1520’s successor will not only get upgraded hardware, but it should also run Microsoft’s latest mobile operating system, Windows Phone 10. Speaking about operating systems, Microsoft will first of all launch Windows 10 and only then the new flagship will be introduce, meaning that we still have to wait a bit until we will see the new smartphone. And this totally makes sense if you ask us, because launching a new top notch device in 2015, but using Windows Phone 8, would have a pretty big impact, in a negative way, that is.
Even though we have no idea about a launch date for this upgraded Lumia 1520, the above mentioned source also mentions a few details about the specs of this phone. It seems that it will be pretty big, but Microsoft hasn’t decided if they should go with a 6″ display or stick to a more ‘normal’ size of 5.7 inches.
Snapdragon 810? Ok, we want one…
Also, it could be powered by the Snapdragon 810 chipset and we really hope that in a few weeks, when new rumors will most likely come up, we will remove that ‘could’. An upgraded Lumia 1520, probably 1530 running the best chipset on the market would be more than just good news.
For the moment, this is all the available information on this topic, but keep an eye on our blog, as we will be back with more on this topic.
How many Windows Phone users do we have around here? Anybody looking forward to seeing a new variant of the Lumia 1520?
