How-to Search for Text on a Web Page in Safari for iOS 7

Safari on iOS 7 has gained a significant update from Apple. Everything has slightly changed for advanced users, but not for beginners. Apple has totally revamped the layout and look of Safari in iOS 7 update. Users are facing difficulties in discovering new features, and some old features that get buried in core applications with gestures based enabling. I have received a request from a reader, who has faced difficulty in using the search options in Safari. After hearing her request, I thought that she would not be the only iOS 7 user who is taking Safari a difficult option on her iPhone.

No doubts, Apple has made it difficult for users to discover that how to search a text or object on a webpage in Safari. Search options have slightly changed in Safari for iOS 7. In iOS 7, Apple has combined both URL and Search bar into one omni-bar for Safari users. The new omni-search-bar feature is confusing users on new Safari for iOS 7.

Many users are assuming that Apple has dropped the on-page search feature from Safari, but I am assuring you that the feature is still here, but somewhat misplaced in the new interface. Let’s take a start with “how to search a word or phrase” on a webpage using Safari on iOS 7.

How To Search for Text or Phrase on a Web Page in Safari on iOS 7

Step 1: Open any webpage in Safari for iOS 7. For tutorial, I am opening http://www.geeksays.com/ In Safari for iOS 7.

Step 2: Once the page loads correctly on your device. Now tap on URL bar, and hit cross button to clear all text from URL bar.

Step 3: Type any phrase or text, which you want to search on a web page in Safari for iOS 7.

Step 4: Scroll all way down to end of the pop-up window; you will see a section “On This Page”.

Step 5: The “On This Page” part will be carrying all matched texts and their locations. You can tap on find on this page button, and it will bring you to your webpage with highlighting the same phrases on your screen.

As you can see, the search on a web page is still there in Safari for iOS 7. Apple has just changed its position in all-new Safari for iOS 7 running devices. You can perform a search for text on any webpage using Safari on your iOS 7 running device.
