It’s been on the market for a few months now, which is more than enough for us to make an opinion about the Samsung Gear S, the South Korean manufacturer’s sixth attempt at making the perfect smartwatch. Did they succeeded? Depending which category of users you’re asking, we’d say, but we must agree with one thing: it can be the best smartwatch for running. Why? You’ll see right away.

Gear S, the best smartwatch for active people?

First of all, the Samsung Gear S has a SIM-card support, meaning that it can totally replace your smartphone. We all know that carrying a phone when going for a jog it’s not that pleasant, so with this one, your smartphone is basically wrapped around your wrist. A first reason why it could be the best smartwatch for running, yes.

Secondly, since it has the specs of a mid-range smartphone from a couple of years, ago, the Gear S also comes with integrated mapping services, which you can also use for  tracking your steps or burnt calories. And all these are on a device sitting around your wrist, so there’s no chance of dropping it during your activities.

Last but not least, you can easily pair a set of wireless headphones and use the Samsung Gear S as a music player, because hey, we all like listening to our favorite playlist when running right?

It’s not cheap, but it’s worth it.

So, if you think that the advantages of Samsung’s latest smartwatch are definitely what you’re looking for, go on and give it a try. You can get it for $400, but if you ask us, it’s totally worth it, especially if you’re an active person.

Any users of this Tizen-powered smartwatch around here? Any thoughts about it?
