Besides the upcoming iPhone 6S and 6S Plus, Apple is also expected to introduce a new tablet this fall, currently know as iPad Pro. With a 12.9″ it will become the Cupertino-based manufacturer’s biggest device to date, but unfortunately, there aren’t many details about it available.
Is this Apple’s way of giving hints?
It’s true, we’ve seen leaked images with body parts, like the rear panel or even display, but until there’s no official information about it, nothing is sure. Still, it seems like Apple already gave us one tiny detail about it…
According to Gadgets NDTV, a developer started investigating iOS 9’s source code and observed that it can also offer support for a resolution of 2732 x 2048 pixels. For what we know, this would be perfect for a 12.9″ iPad Pro.
If this will indeed be the chosen resolution, a pixel density of 267 ppi will result, closely matching iPad Air 2’s 264 ppi, so apps optimized for the latter will have no problems with scaling for the iPad Pro.
The same source mentions that yesterday, a Twitter user posted a screenshot of iOS 9’s keyboard which seems to be able to scale at larger resolutions. The layout is also changed, hinting to a possible inclusion of a larger display resolution, but still, this is just speculation. Let’s not draw a conclusion this early as we might be disappointed.
A big display needs a big power pack
Besides the increased display size, the iPad Pro is rumored to measure just 7 mm in thickness and weigh under 700 grams, while a battery with a capacity of 11000 mAh could be powering the tablet.
For the moment, Apple has not yet commented on this topic, so we can only wait until more, clearer photos or details about the tablet will be available.
