Microsoft to release new 10.6 inch Surface tablet
If you’re one of those Microsoft fans who were totally thrilled after hearing that the company is not planning to release a shrunken version of their tablet, we have some news for you. Good or bad, it’s up to you.
Apparently, Microsoft is planning to release a new surface tablet, but it’s not going to be that small as everybody was expecting. According to DigiTimes, the device is going to be pretty big actually, measuring 10.6 inches. Not so mini, huh?
Even though it’s going to be pretty big, the new Surface tablet is going to feature a slimmer and lighter design. The production is set to start in August, which means that it could see the light somewhere around October.
On the other side, Microsoft has no plans to release a smaller tablet too, as, according to some official statements, it wouldn’t stand a chance against competing smaller tablets from the market. You can’t imagine how right you are guys…
New Microsoft Surface tablet specs?
The Surface Mini was expected to feature either a Qualcomm or ARM chipset, powered by Windows RT, but since this one is going to be way bigger, it should have bigger processing power.
The upcoming tablet, which has all the chances to be sold as Surface 3, has pretty big chances to run directly on Windows 8, which would be a major advantage for Microsoft. After all, it is said that tablets will soon replace laptops, so a tablet with an operating system used by a pretty big percent of laptops around the world would be a big step forward!
Any Surface fans around here? What’s your opinion?
