Meet BLU Studio Energy, the 5000mAh monster

Last updated on January 7, 2017 By Andrei Klein Leave a Comment

Let’s be honest, battery capacity is one of the main aspects everybody looks at when buying a phone. Still, the main trend right now is to make devices as thin as possible, meaning that in most cases, battery is sacrificed in favor of the design.

Energy for days

Fortunately, there are some companies – less known, it’s true – who can combine them both: a relatively slim design and a huge battery. And by ‘huge’ we mean 5000mAh!

The BLU Studio Energy is made by a Miami-based company and after being introduced at CES 2015, it’s finally available on the US market, according to the folks over GSM Arena.

Its main attraction point is the battery, which can last up to 45 days in standby or 4 days of regular use. Surprisingly, the BLU Studio Energy is not a chunky device, as the thickness has been kept at 10.4 mm. On the other side, it can be considered heavy , as it weighs 180g.

Spec-wise, the BLU Studio Energy comes with a 5″ 720p display and it’s powered by a quad-core CPU, clocked at 1.3 GHz, teaming up with 1 GB of RAM. Oh well, you can’t have them all…

On the back, we can find an 8 MP camera, while a 2 MP front-facing one is there for video calls or some selfies. As for the operating system, the smartphone boots Android 4.4 KitKat, with an update to 5.0 Lollipop scheduled for July.

Can’t beat the price either

If you like the idea of having a phone with a 5000mAh battery, which doesn’t need charging every night, you can get the BLU Studio Energy from Amazon, unlocked, at a price of $149. Not bad at all, we’d say.

Any first thoughts about this phone? How important is battery life for you when picking a new handset?
