Knock Allows You Unlock Your Mac By Pounding Your iPhone

Last updated on January 7, 2017 By Hamza Sheikh Leave a Comment

Typing a password or key-phrase in today’s world sounds really old and buggy to many, and therefore, we have several new ways to unlock / lock our devices securely. Just in case, Apple has boosted the fingerprint scanning industry with an addition of a fingerprint scanner in its iPhone 5s device. It makes the world to believe that iPhone 5s fingerprint scanner is the most securest device they are using till date.

However, let’s talk about Macs and desktop computers. We do have interactive ways to unlock our desktop computers, but not Mac machines. The OS X running machines are still focusing on the security of data, and stick with passwords. Users have to enter the password to unlock the machine, but not anymore if you want. There is a new application released in both OS X App Store, and iOS App Store that allows you to securely unlock your OS X running machine with your iPhone or iPad device.

Knock

Knock – is the new application that is available to download for free in OS X App Store, but comes with a price tag in iOS App Store. The application works very closely with OS X running MacBook machines, and other devices that are equipped with latest radio chips. The Knock application lets you unlock your Mac machine by pounding your iPhone in the back while you are in range to your computer.

Knock totally depends on the Bluetooth 4.0 protocol, and provide users an efficient way to unlock their OS X machines without burning their iPhone batteries. In order to make it use for yourself, you have to make sure that you have an iPhone 4s or later, and a Mac OS machine that comes with Bluetooth 4.0 radio.
