Intel’s Compute stick, the cheaper and smaller Windows PC is ready for shipping

Last updated on January 7, 2017 By Adity Bera Leave a Comment

Intel made an announcement in the last November, 2014 about their Compute Stick which is a form of PC and this is now ready for shipment. The Windows version of this Compute Stick is available at a very cheap price, $149. As stated by Intel in the consumer Electronics Show, they will start shipping the smaller PC in March, 2015. As of now, only two versions will be available and these are Windows version with Bing for 149$ and Linux version at 80$.

Intel’s Compute stick

Kirk Skaugen, the Senior Vice president and General Manager of PC client group at Intel said in Santa Clara, California during the Intel Investor Conference that this Compute Stick can be plugged into the behind of a smart TV or Monitor and it will work as a Windows PC. But this idea is not new and it has already been introduced by Google, Amazon and some other companies. They have released it in the form of a HDMI stick which can be used as PC for doing all kind of PC related work.

This Compute Stick of Intel has an Atom Z3735F, 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. There is an option of Micro SD card insertion to expand the memory. Wi-fi and Bluetooth will be supported by this Stick. But the storage is little less for Linux version that includes 1GB of RAM and 8GB storage. So this Compute stick contains all those requirements that are enough for a Windows PC.

The Devices are becoming smaller day by day. First we saw Computer, then Laptop, tablet, Intel’s NUC, modern computer and now this Stick form. This Intel’s Compute stick is so small that can be fitted in hand also and it is very easy to carry rather than taking the laptop with you.
