Last year, we were absolutely convinced that we’re never going to see a HTC smartwatch, as the a company representative was confirming that a wearable device is not a part of their future plans. But on the other side, it’s a pity for such a big brand to stay away from the smartwatch market. Apparently, the guys from HTC though about this too, so they decided to finally join the club.
It’s finally happening!
The Inquirer, citing a source from Bloomberg, states that a “a person familiar with the matter” declared that we’re finally going to see the first HTC smartwatch being launched at Barcelona, where MWC 2015 is set to take place.
Apparently, the wearable will be launched during the “Utopia in progress” event, where the company’s upcoming flagship, HTC One M9, will make its first official appearance.
There aren’t many details about this HTC smartwatch for the moment, but it’s very likely to see Android Wear running on it. Also, since the Taiwanese company announced a partnership with Under Armour during CES 2015, it should pack some very interesting features, perfect for those who are looking for the best smartwatch for fitness.
Different from anything on the market
Nothing about the design either, but we’re very curious about the shape HTC is going to choose for their smartwatch. We must admit that we’re really hoping to see a round one, because some competition for the Moto 360 and the LG G Watch R is always welcome. Also, considering that a spokesperson for the company confirmed the HTC smartwatch saying that it will be “very different from anything currently on the market”, we can’t hide our enthusiasm.
Do you expect any special feature from the HTC smartwatch? How much would you pay for one?
