Remember the good ol’ days when a Casio wrist watch with a calculator was the ultimate gadget you could have? Well, we could say that it was the equivalent of a smartwatch in those times, right?
A new player joins the game
According to The Wall Street Journal, the Japanese manufacturer started a research four years ago, in order to develop the first Casio smartwatch. The source also mentions that it should be ready until March 2016, when the Apple Watch is going to mark its one year anniversary.
Kazuhiro Kashio, the company’s new president, claims that the upcoming Casio smartwatch will be a watch attempting to be smart. If you ask us, this is a great approach, as most people forget that their wearables are watches in the first place, while the rest of the ‘smart’ features should be secondary.
Also, it should be a very tough, as Mr. Kashio also declared that they’re aiming for perfection. The Casio smartwatch won’t break that easy, will be simple to put on and feel good around the wrist.
Their goal is $80 million in sales, which for a company that is about to launch its first smartwatch could be a bit too much. But hey, let’s not forget we’re talking about Casio here, the one that probably made the watch you’re wearing right now.
Will it run Android Wear?
Since they’re on a market for a lot of years, they are aware about the chances of the Casio smartwatch actually being a fail. Even more, the same Kazuhiro Kashio says that he doesn’t think the device will be an instant success, but they want it to grow in the long terms.
What are your thoughts on this? If you wanted one, would you opt for a Casio smartwatch instead of one made by a company with a bit of extra experience in this field?
