How to use the iPhone’s Personal Hotspot feature

Last updated on December 26, 2014 By Daniel Dob Leave a Comment

If you aren’t aware of this yet, the iPhone has an exciting feature that allows users from all around the world to transform their mobile data into wireless or give other devices the ability to access the Internet via USB or Bluetooth. Today, we’ll take a look at how to use the iPhone’s Personal Hotspot feature while also reminding you everything that should be kept in mind.

How to use the iPhone’s Personal Hotspot feature in 4 steps:

  1. Make sure that you have everything that is needed

One of the most important steps is to ensure that you have an iPhone, a 3G or 4G mobile data connection and knowledge on the pricing of this feature. While in most of the countries, people can use their iPhones to create mobile hotspots free of charge, this almost always costs users in the U.S some money, so if you are from there, then you must ensure that you’re aware of the payment plan and contact your carrier for more information.

  1. Share your mobile data connection

Once you make sure that you have everything that’s needed, you can go ahead and access your iPhone’s Settings and click on the cellular tab. Once this is done, simply press on Persona Hotspot and turn it on. This will bring up a configuration page where you’ll have to set up a password that other devices will have to type when they’d like to connect to your device.

  1. Connecting other devices

This is probably the simplest part of the tutorial, as you only have to enable your device’s Wi-Fi, search for available connections and then connect to the hotspot that you just created using your preferred password. For those who would like to connect via Bluetooth or USB, all that needs to be done is to connect both devices either via Bluetooth or USB and then things will proceed automatically.

In the case that you’re on a computer, simply head over to the connection settings and choose your iPhone from the list of devices available at that certain moment in time.

  1. Disconnecting devices

Once you don’t want to have devices connected to your mobile hotspot anymore, then you can simply turn it off while also turning off Bluetooth and disconnecting your device from a computer if connected via USB.

As you can see, the process of setting up and using the iPhone’s Personal Hotspot is an extremely easy procedure that just about anyone can handle without facing any trouble.
