If you have upgraded your iPhone in the last couple of years, then chances are that you already know quite a lot about Siri. Well, with the newest update to iOS, Apple actually introduced a great new feature which allows you to control Siri without actually needing to press the home button, which is also known as ‘Hi Siri’.
With this in mind, it is a great feature to use if you’re busy doing something, your hands are occupied or your iPhone is too far away from you at a certain moment. Hi Siri actually allows you to say those exact words to get start up Siri. After this is done, you can simply go ahead and give Siri instructions.
However, this great feature has a downfall which can also be considered a good addition, thus creating a paradox. In an attempt to save battery life, Apple only allows people to use this great feature when their iPhone is plugged in which can be quite an annoying experience. However, there is still a way to use it without actually needing to install a Cydia tweak. By making sure that the feature is enabled, you can invoke Siri and wait for a bit without saying anything. This will leave you loaded up on the Siri screen. Once this is done, you can easily go ahead and ask any questions you would like regardless of whether your iPhone is plugged in or not (just remember to say Hi Siri).
While I appreciate Apple’s efforts to save up battery life, I still believe that they should’ve made it possible for people to use this great feature even though their phones were not connected to a power socket if they want to, or actually introduce a power saving mode, as most of the current Android smartphones have.
Chances are that there’ll also be Cydia apps to make things easier, so we’ll keep you updated once we find one that deals with this issue. How often do you find yourself using Siri and what do you think about this feature? Additionally, if you would be in charge of the tea behind Siri, what else would you like to see from the great virtual assistant that Apple provides? I would personally see myself adding multiple language integration, as there are people from all around the world that are having problems getting the right accent and speaking to Siri in their own languages would definitely make things better.
