How to restore your iPhone with iTunes

A study has shown that people usually reset their iPhones to factory settings around one time every year for a couple of reasons, some of which include the following. The number one reason is actually activating a feature/setting that users don’t know how to turn off, while other reasons include the idea to make the device faster, or simply prepare an iOS device for being sold to somebody.itunes-image

Regardless of why you may want to reset your iPhone to factory settings, we’ll go ahead and guide you through it with the help of our how to use the iPhone tutorial. While there are a couple of ways for this to be achieved, this article will only cover the process which can be done with the help of iTunes.

Note: Before you attempt anything, please remember that resetting your iPhone to factory settings means that you will lose absolutely all of the content from your device including songs, photos, contacts, videos, applications and so on, as long as you do not backup your device (however, everything will be deleted from your device)

  1. Make sure that you have the latest version of iTunes installed on your computer

To do this, simply open up the app which will let you know in the case that there is any available update for it.

  1. Use the application to back up your device

In order to do so, simply connect your iPhone to your computer via USB and transfer and sync it in order to make sure that all of the data present on it is also present on your computer.

  1. Restore your device

Once everything that has been mentioned so far has been done, you’ll now have to go ahead and reset your iOS device. To do this, make sure that you are in the Summary tab of the dedicated iTunes section for your device and click on ‘Restore’. Once this is done, iTunes will go ahead and ask you to confirm whether this is indeed what you would like to do.download

  1. The process

The process of restoring your iPhone to factory settings will take a couple of minutes. After it is completed, you’ll be prompted with the setup page of your iPhone. Simply go through it and set up your device as a new one, or click on use backup in order to transfer all of your content back on it.

Important notes

During the process, it is imperative to make sure that you do not disconnect your device from your computer, as doing so can be dangerous both for your files, but also for your phone. Another thing which is worth pointing out refers to the fact that you’ll have to go ahead and make sure that all of your files are backed up in order to avoid any loses.
