It seems like every day that passes represents a win for the smartwatch and fitness band markets as they continue to gain in popularity. However, the folks behind Fitbit recently took a blow, as Apple has decided to stop selling the Fitbit fitness bands in their online and retail stores.
At first, people may simply think that the contracts between the two companies have expired, but it seems like there’s a little bit more to the story than that. With this in mind, after Fitbit has announced that their devices will not offer support for Apple’s HealthKit app, it seems like certain tensions started to arise between the two companies. Together with this, Fitbit also announced a couple of products, from which we can also find a smartwatch, known by the name of the Fitbit Surge.
These factors tend to point in the direction that Apple has made this decision for competitive reasons, as they have already announced the Apple Watch and it isn’t really a good idea to sell two different smartwatches at the same time. However, this isn’t really surprising, as following the purchase of Beats, Apple also decided to remove all of the Bose products from its shelves.
Is Apple getting competitive?
