Apple Care+ for Apple Watch Now Available

Last updated on January 7, 2017 By Daniel Dob Leave a Comment

Apple has officially extended its line of Apple Care packages to provide coverage for Apple Watch. The Apple Care+ for Apple Watch plans are now available on the Online Apple Store and will soon come to many retailers that will be selling Apple Watch.

Unlike the Apple Care plans for MacBooks and iOS devices, the Apple Care+ for Apple Watch extends the standard 1-year warranty that comes with your Apple Watch to 2 years instead of 3. The 3-year warranty extension is reserved for those who choose to buy the Apple Watch Edition.download

The cost? Expect to pay $49 for Apple Care+ for Apple Watch Sport. This is the most affordable plan of the line-up, and it covers the most affordable type of Apple Watch. For the stainless steel Apple Watch, the extended warranty costs $69. As for Apple Watch Edition, Apple Care+ costs $1,500.

Surprised about these prices; well, there are more. The extended coverage plans covers every component of the Apple Watch, including the battery, the included magnetic charging cable and the Apple Watch’s power adapter. It also covers up to two incidents of accidental damage caused by the way users handle the Apple Watch.

However, there is a service charge attached to making warranty claims. For the standard Apple Watch, the service fee is $79 per claim. The Apple Watch Sport costs $69 for every hardware incident claim. The Apple Watch Edition, as we all may have expected, has a $1,000 service fee associated with making Apple Care claims.

The good news is, you can buy a combo Apple Care plan for both your iPhone and your Apple Watch. The original Apple Care+ plans we discussed earlier must be purchased within 60 days of you buying the Apple Watch. The combo plans have the same term, but you can buy it for an iPhone that is no more than 6 months old as long as it is undamaged. Simply add $100 to the price of the standard Apple Care+ for Apple Watch.
